Ok, they aren’t birds, but FINLESS PORPOISES are one of the features of Laotieshan.  On calm days it is not unusual to see more than 10 of these cetaceans loafing around.  Here’s a short video of these mammals hanging around a local fishing boat…

    Fascinating. Amazing how that lack of a fin makes them seem quite alien. If I’d seen that I don’t think I’d even have been sure they were cetaceans.

    Thanks Ken.. yes, strange looking creatures! And, perhaps surprisingly, seemingly quite common around the Liaoning coast..
